I spent a Saturday in Santa Cruz, California with a stick in one hand (sometimes both) while stretching, moving, balancing and breathing. Whoah!
I assisted Dr. Arthur, the creator of Stick Yoga, during his “Stick Stretching for Brain Health and Total Body Fitness” workshop. This was no time for delayed cognitive function.
I have interviewed Dr. Arthur in the past, so I know he is full of energy – I was excited to be in the room, in the atrium and on the streets of downtown (he introduced us to stick walking) with him and the group of amazing docs who, like me, want to know how to turn a stick into a tool for better cognitive health and overall fitness.
Why a stick? The stick provides support to the body in motion, but it helps you still feel grounded – all while challenging the brain. AND it’s fun, it helps the brain release happy chemicals that just make you feel good.
